Costs & contract

How much does the Mergus virtual office cost?
The yearly package costs €1,000 net (≈ €83/month) and includes the serviceable business address at Am Gestade 3 in the 1st district, mail acceptance with digital scan service and telephone answering. Setup costs €0 and there is no minimum term – the package is paid annually (12-month term).
Is there a setup fee?
No. At Mergus, setup costs €0 – no registration fee, no contract fee, no transfer costs. Many Viennese providers charge between €50 and €300, which significantly increases the real price in the first year.
Is there a minimum term?
No. The yearly package is paid annually (12-month term), without a minimum term and without automatic renewal at higher conditions. You stay flexible – even if your business situation changes.
Are the prices net or gross?
All stated prices are net plus statutory VAT. You receive a proper invoice with all mandatory details, on request under your VAT ID. Businesses can reclaim input VAT within the statutory framework.
How much does mail forwarding cost?
The digital scan is included in the yearly price. Forwarding originals is possible on request; any postage costs are disclosed transparently and never added silently. Parcels are accepted by arrangement.

Legal & authorities

Can I use this address for company registration?
Yes. Our address at Am Gestade 3 is serviceable and suitable for registering a GmbH, UG or other company form in the commercial register (Firmenbuch). We assist with the required details on registered office and place of business – the registration itself is filed with the competent regional court.
Can I apply for a trade licence with this address?
Yes. The address qualifies for the trade licence application with the district administrative authority (MA 63) in Vienna because it is serviceable and official mail is accepted reliably. The application itself is filed by you or your tax advisor, online or in person.
What does a serviceable address mean?
A serviceable address is a physical address at which official documents such as RSb registered letters can be legally served. It is a prerequisite for commercial register registration and trade licence applications – a mere letterbox without physical presence does not meet this requirement.
Can I receive RSb letters at this address?
Yes. RSb registered mail from authorities, courts or the tax office is accepted and documented. We inform you without delay upon receipt – so you never miss a deadline, for example notices from MA 63 or the tax office.
Am I automatically a member of the WKO?
Membership in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) arises by law with the trade licence application – regardless of which address you use. WKO membership is compulsory for traders in Austria and is not linked to our service.
Is the address suitable for the legal notice?
Yes. Austrian disclosure law (§ 5 ECG and the Media Act) requires the full company address to be stated. With our address, your private home remains protected while the legal notice shows a representative Viennese business address.

Mail & communication

How does the digital mail scan work?
Incoming mail is accepted, opened on request, scanned digitally and delivered to you electronically as a PDF. Originals are forwarded on request or retained for you. This keeps your correspondence under control even when you are travelling or abroad.
How quickly do I receive scanned documents?
Usually on the same working day the mail arrives. Urgent items – particularly RSb letters with deadlines – are prioritised and documented so you can react in time.
What happens with parcels?
Parcels are accepted by arrangement. You can collect them on site or arrange forwarding to an address of your choice. The conditions are discussed transparently in advance.
How does the telephone answering service work?
Calls to your company number are answered under your company name. Messages are documented and forwarded to you promptly – on request by e-mail. You never miss an enquiry, even when you are unavailable.
Can I collect my mail in person?
Yes. As Mergus GmbH we are based at Am Gestade 3 ourselves. By arrangement you can collect your mail in person or get advice on site – we document the location transparently.

International & formation

Can a foreign company use this address?
Yes. International companies can use our address for an Austrian presence – for example to establish an Austrian subsidiary, as a service-of-process address or as a representative office. Consulting is provided in German and English.
Do I need a GDPR Article 27 representative?
If your company is based outside the EU and processes personal data within the EU, a representative under Article 27 GDPR may be required. We advise on the requirements and take on this role on request.
How do I set up a company in Austria as a non-EU citizen?
Setting up a company in Austria is generally possible for non-EU citizens too. In addition to the serviceable registered office, residence and trade law aspects must be reviewed. We support you in gathering the required documents and refer you to specialised advisors.
Do I need a VAT ID?
The VAT ID is issued by the tax office and is usually required for invoices to businesses within the EU. It is independent of the business address – we support you with the details during registration.
In which languages does Mergus consult?
We consult in German and English. Contracts, invoices and correspondence are issued bilingually so that international founders can understand every document with legal certainty.

Technology & process

How fast can I start?
After payment, your virtual office is ready immediately – usually within one working day. The address is then available straight away for the commercial register, trade licence application, legal notice and mail.
How do I receive contract, invoice and access data?
All documents are sent digitally by e-mail: offer, contract, invoice and the access data for your mail scan area. Physical copies are available on request.
How does the annual package work?
Cancellation is possible informally by e-mail and is confirmed within a few working days. There are no exit fees and no hidden clauses – the notice period is stated transparently in the contract.
What happens to my mail after annual payment?
When the contract ends, the right to use the address expires. Incoming mail is forwarded for a transitional period or held for collection, by agreement – so no important item gets lost.
How does Mergus ensure data protection?
Your mail and data are processed in compliance with the GDPR: no unauthorised access by third parties, no disclosure to uninvolved parties, encrypted transmission of scanned documents. Details are governed by the contract.
